Music City has some incredible parks and greenways including Centennial Park and Bicentennial Park, both located in the heart of the city. Edwin Warner Park and Percy Warner Park span over 2500 acres of rolling hills for bikers, runners, and walkers just miles away from downtown. Not far from the entrance of Percy Warner is the exquisite Cheekwood Estate & Gardens. The 55-acre botanical garden features several different styles of flowers and plants impeccably maintained throughout the grounds of the Cheekwood Mansion, which is now a museum of art.
There’s also a 180-mile-long greenway that runs throughout the city, 90 miles of which are off-road trails. The Greenway is very popular for cyclists who don’t want to fight traffic, and since most of us don’t travel with a bike, you can rent one from a mobile bike rental Bike the Greenway. Take a tour on wheels with Green Fleet Bicycle Tours or rent a Nashville B-cycle at one of more than 30 locations around town. Ride as long as you want and then drop it back off at any of the stations. It’s a great way to sightsee, enjoy the great weather and even sneak in a little workout all at the same time. Nashville has also three lakes close to the city center: Percy Priest Lake, Radnor Lake, and Old Hickory Lake. Rent stand-up paddleboards from Nashville Paddle Co. or Paddle Up Nashville. Or kayak down the Cumberland River with River Queen Voyages as you row by Nashville’s downtown skyline.
Music is a vital part of the city, and enjoying it in the great outdoors somehow makes the music even sweeter. Ascend Amphitheater, located in downtown Nashville, has a stellar lineup of diverse artists throughout the year. Music festivals include Live on The Green, Musicians Corner, Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th, and Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve in Nashville are all performed under the Nashville sky.
Take in a Nashville Sounds baseball game at the new First Horizon Park, check out Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium, or head to Arrington Vineyards to enjoy a vino amidst the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. Looking for fun for the whole family? Check out Nashville Shores waterpark, Treetop Adventure Park, Adventure Park at Nashville, or the Nashville Zoo which recently added the Soaring Eagle zip line experience.
