Methodology

The NCVC now uses a model developed by Tourism Economics to estimate visitation numbers; therefore, comparing current visitation numbers to NCVC visitation figures from past years under the old model would not be an accurate comparison. Tourism Economics is an Oxford Economics company, which provides market and impact analysis to more than 300 destinations around the world. The analysis incorporates data from STR hotel room nights sold; AirDNA data about short-term rentals; U.S. Census data on second homes for recreational use; air passenger visitors to Nashville International Airport; mobile device geolocation data; and National Travel & Tourism Office statistics on international visitors.
